Natural Rubber Demand May Revive In Coming Months
The Intergovernmental Panel on Rubber Growing Countries estimates that global demand for natural rubber is likely to decline by 2.9 percent in the third quarter of 2020. China saw a 15 per cent drop in quarter 1 and 2 a 15.8 per cent decline quarter 2.ANRPC expects NR consumption to recover in the third quarter (July-September 2020) due to the rapid recovery of the US economy, recovery in the Chinese manufacturing sector and higher vehicle and sales in China and India.
Preliminary figures show that China used 456,000 tonnes of natural rubber in July. In view of lower-than-expected performance in the US and the European Union, the global consumption outlook for 2020 has been revised downwards. 12.544 million tonnes, down 8.9 per cent from the previous year.
Developments in the short and medium market depend on the global economic recovery and the revival of the automotive industry and the transport sector. The recovery will depend on how early an effective vaccine against the corona virus is developed and produced on a large scale, ”said ANRPC Secretary General RB Premadasa.

In the last three to four weeks, Tripura rubber prices have risen by about 10 per cent to Rs 140 per kg. However, it is unlikely to maintain momentum, Rubber may wipe out all recent gains, as it may cool demand from factories and may weigh heavily on crude oil prices. The prices of natural rubber are depend on crude oil prices because it is used to make synthetic rubber instead of natural varieties.
The price of the widely traded RSS-4 has already come down to Rs 132-133 per kg in Tripura today. Weak demand, high stockpiles and increased supply could push the Tripura rubber rate to Rs 125-126 in the next three to four weeks. Demand for tires, which account for 65% of total rubber demand, is declining because the lock down has affected vehicle production. Inventories from tire manufacturers are booming as stock lifting from factories are very slow.

Indian Commodity Exchange(ICEX), में अगस्त अनुबंध 320 रुपये बढ़कर 13,450 रुपये पर कारोबार हुआ। बैंकॉक का हाजिर बाजार (spot market) 146 रुपये बढ़कर 120.10 रुपये पर है। Tokyo Commodity Exchange, अक्टूबर अनुबंध 148 रु. 115.20 पर है।

But the decline in crude oil prices is likely to limit the rise in Kerala rubber rate. This is because the rubber industry is increasingly dependent on crude oil for synthetic rubber.
