India Rubber: RSS4 rubber prices rise in Kerala due to fall in supply
RSS4 rubber prices rose today in the key markets of Kerala because of fall in supply, local traders said. However, transactions were fewer due to lack of sellers.
* Early defoliation of rubber trees has led to a drop in production. Sellers are also stocking the commodity on expectations of rise in prices in the near term, said Thaha K. Mohamed, owner of Sara Traders.
* RSS4 rubber prices were also influenced by rise in global rubber prices, traders said. Domestic prices have been steady for the past few trading sessions.
* Moderate demand from traders and stockists continues to persist. Traders are willing to buy the commodity as they need to fulfil contracts with tyre manufacturing companies, said C.J. Augustine, the owner of Chettiparambil Traders.
* Most futures contracts of natural rubber were largely steady on Japan’s Osaka Exchange.
* In the coming days, contracts are likely to trade in the range of 215-235 yen per kg, said an analyst.
Following are the highlights of today’s trade:
–Widely-traded RSS4 rubber prices was sold at 138-140 rupees per kg, up 1 rupee from the previous day.
–Most-active June contract on the Osaka Exchange was flat at 225.0 yen (138.5 rupees) per kg.
